USE
. Erythromycin is used to prevent and treat infections in many different parts of the body, including respiratory tract infections, skin infections, diphtheria, intestinal amebiasis, acute pelvic inflammatory disease, Legionnaire's disease, pertussis, and syphilis.
Side Effects
- Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin.
- diarrhea.
- difficulty with swallowing.
- fast heartbeat.
- hives or welts, skin rash.
- joint or muscle pain.
- red, irritated eyes.
- red skin lesions, often with a purple center.
PRECAUTION
Contact your doctor right away if you or your child have worsening symptoms of heart rhythm problems, such as fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat. Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or may be pregnant before using this medicine. Erythromycin may cause diarrhea, and in some cases it can be severe.
