Description
USE
Broncholyte in an over the counter medication that is used to treat chest congestion and cough. bromhexine belongs to a group of medications called mucolytics, which work by breaking mucus down so that it is easier to cough out.
SIDE EFFECT
Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
PRECAUTION
Since mucolytics may disrupt the gastric mucosal barrier, bromhexine should be used with caution in patients with a history of gastric ulceration. Clearance of bromhexine or its metabolites may be reduced in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment.
